Unwanted artworks for Art Bin, South London Gallery

Art Bin, Michael Landy exhibition

From 29 January until 14 March 2010 acclaimed British artist Michael Landy will transform the South London Gallery into a 600m³ container for the disposal of works of art. Art Bin will gradually fill up over the six week course of the exhibition to create ’a monument to creative failure’.

Deliveries will be taken at the SLG from 7 December 2009 by prior arrangement, and from 29 January –
14 March 2010 works can be brought to the SLG to be disposed of in Art Bin from Tuesday – Sunday, 12–6pm. Please note that for access purposes the gallery entrance measures 210 x 122 cm. Michael Landy or his representative will decide which works go into Art Bin and not all works will be accepted.

 

 

Young UK based artists and designers to part take in a creative web programme

Currently looking for boys and girls age 23-33 to participate in a fast and fun makeover program, hosted by radical celebrity hairstylist, Charlie Le Mindu.

Konbini, a new web TV channel launching in February, is currently searching for people to participate in a fast, fun and experimental makeover program, hosted by hairdresser extraordinaire, Charlie Le Mindu. If you are between 23-33 and want to look even hotter than you already do, send us a photo of yourself, along with a brief explanation of why you want to re-vamp your look! If chosen you will receive a consolation and a makeover by Charlie, along with styling tips from Super Super's own, Namalee Bolle.

Charlie's magical hands have styled everyone from Lady Gaga to Peaches to Florence and the Machine. He also frequently works with publications such as Vogue, Dazed and Confused and i-D, and is a regular at London Fashion Week, having shown his innovative hair-based designs over past two seasons-both to rave reviews. Even Justin Timberlake showed Charlie's hairy creations some love on his personal blog!

Konbini is a web TV channel that has been running in France for 2 years. In February we will launch in the UK, with the goal of continuing to produce unique and forward thinking, programming for the UK audience, as well as giving creative people a platform to exhibit their work to a like minded audience.

Matt Roberts Arts is currently looking for a creative, energetic individual with excellent communication skills to act as the head of Audience Development and as Membership Secretary for the organisation.

Matt Roberts Arts is a voluntary organisation, where all team members work unpaid in order to disseminate opportunities to creative practitioners who may benefit them. It is intended that this opportunity should be an important developmental step in the career of the successful candidate, allowing them to lead on campaigns and contribute to the growth of the organisation. 

The successful applicant will have worked in a marketing, sales or communications role on a paid or voluntary basis. All applicants should have a reasonable understanding of the visual arts sector.

The Membership Secretary works two days per week and would be expected to remain in post for no less than six months, to complete any campaigns initiated.

'art art art' is a quarterly e-magazine that reaches an audience of over 10,000 artists and curators both nationally and internationally. To see the latest issue and download previous copies see www.artartartgallery.com

We are currently recruiting a SOUTH EAST Regional Editor for the publication in order to ensure coverage of news and reviews from the area.

The successful applicant will need to make contact and visit galleries and institutions in the SOUTH EAST and encourage contributions from local writers. You will be expected to research exhibitions and inform us of shows that are relevant to the forthcoming 'art art art 'issue. Please bear in mind that this role only covers the South East region (excluding London).

This is a voluntary post and we require no more than two days work a month and believe editors would gain invaluable management and arts admin experience with the support of a well-established team in London. You would have creative input into the topics and output of 'art art art', offering valuable editorial experience.

The next 'art art art' editorial meeting will be on Saturday 17th October and we aim to appoint the new SOUTH EAST editor before this meeting.

Para/Site Art Space is proud to present Gao Brothers- Hugging Performance.
This summer 29 October, Gao Brothers will bring their big hugs from China and Germany to the entrance of Hong Kong Arts Centre.

Volunteers, who are previously strangers to each other, will choose a person at random for a hug, which they will then do simultaneously with other couples.

Nathalie Pham and Avani Patel are looking for anyone in the Chinatown community and/or any writers who can share in writing their experiences in/about Chinatown, NYC. We are thinking about key experiences such as growing up in Chinatown, observing the community at large, thoughts on family values, difference between the Wall Street communities versus the Chinatown, curious cultural encounters with Chinatown residents. We are looking for thoughts that happened recently or 60 years ago. All ages are encouraged to respond.

The format can be either in Chinese or in English. But it cannot exceed 260 characters in English. It can be a random thought, or a poem or a one-liner or a teeny paragraph. All formats are encouraged. (Think Twitter)

We are collecting them from no until July 2009. And we will post them on the panels of our public art installation in Chinatown, NYC. You can email them to us at:

Our proposal: We are working on a public project approved by Asian American Art Center and New York City Department of Parks and Recreation on show string budget. A community projects is about past and future of Chinatown and collecting stories, images or any poetic writing about Asians in Chinatown. They will have about 80 panels 18” x 24” around Columbus Park painted in red, gold; black about the culture of Chinese in New York City and also about other diversity grew up in Chinatown. We are changing the panels (not all of them but a few) on a weekly basis.

Our reception will be on May 14th, 2009 from 7- 9 pm and we will probably have a short walking tour before hand talking about our project. The reception will be at the Asian American Art Center.
