Studio Space, London ( near Tate Modern)

Studio Space, London

hello I have a studio space available - it is 161 square feet and £155pcm.
It is one big studio partitioned into two separate spaces.

I will mostly be there in the evenings and the weekends so if you're a daytime creator then you'll be there on your own.

Suitable for all kinds of creating, except noisy creating really.

it's very close to Tate Modern, Jerwood space and cafe and a nice pub called the Charles Dickens which has a beer garden and therefore good for summer although of course you'll be far too busy in the studio to go to the pub....

ARTISTS WITHOUT STUDIOS PRIZE : Ben Uri Gallery: The London Jewish Museum of Art

ARTISTS WITHOUT STUDIOS PRIZE
DEADLINE:  7th JULY 2009

Ben Uri is delighted to announce a new competition for young artists, providing them with a residency and a public exhibition of the resulting work. This summer, the gallery will divide its exhibition space into a number of discrete artists’ ‘studios’, allowing up to four young artists the time and space to work on a project. Ben Uri will be open to the public from 2-5.30pm during this time and so the artists can work uninterrupted in the mornings and will be encouraged to engage with visitors and explain their practice during their work in the afternoons. The studios will in situ for about three weeks. They will then be cleared away in order to present a group show, curated by Katy Barron, at the end of the period. This will last for a week and will present the work made at the gallery to the public. It will be a selling show to which the artists are able to invite guests and it is also anticipated that there will be an evening talk to the Artists Peer Group given by the artists at which they will discuss their experience at Ben Uri and the work that they created.

Ben Uri aims to support artists at every stage in their careers. It is widely acknowledged how difficult it can be to afford studios, especially at the outset of an artist’s career, and it is hoped that this residency and exhibition will afford a few practitioners the opportunity to make work in a sympathetic and supportive environment and to further their practice.

http://www.benuri.org.uk/AWOS_prize.htm

The details are as follows:

Who can apply
Artists under 28 who do not have a permanent studio space. Any visual artist may apply (ie painters, sculptors, photographers etc) but there will be restrictions on space. Ben Uri will contribute £250 towards each artist's expenses. The gallery will do everything it can to facilitate the particular requirements of each artist’s practice.

How will the artists be selected
A panel of three judges will select up to four artists for this initiative.

When will it happen
The residency will take place from 11th August to 6th September. The 'studios' will be will be open for the artists to use everyday (apart from 31st August) from 10 – 5.30 pm (not Saturdays). The exhibition will run at the Ben Uri from 1st to 6th September.

How to apply
Please send a written statement, not more than one A4 side as to why you would benefit from the Ben Uri residency and exhibition. Please also include a CV and a CD of images of your recent work (no more than 10). Also, please include a short summary of your proposed project for the residency. This does not need to be fully fleshed out at this stage, but you must remember that there will be an exhibition at the end of the residency and so you will need to have work to include.

Applications must be sent by 7th July to:
