This competition is open to artists of all nationalities working in Italy and New York City.

Objectives of the Terna 02 Award
The Award’s principal objective is to support contemporary artists and art and contribute to a new virtuous relationship among businesses, the art world and public authorities through the interconnection between culture and economy.

The Award involves all of the contemporary art world and creates a circuit for promoting new talents and the role of artists as a development and search engine for new creativity. In addition to the participation of artists of all ages who work in Italy, the 2009 edition also includes the participation of Italian and foreign artists who work steadily in New York. The introduction of a new dedicated category “Connectivity New York” reflects Terna’s will to encourage the exchange of experiences and creativity with other countries while internationally promoting Italian contemporary art, thus enhancing one of our country’s aspects that has yet to be discovered

There are four categories:

TERAWATT: By invitation only, reserved to experienced artists with established activity in Italy and/or abroad.
Prize: 100,000 Euros

GIGAWATT: Artists under 35 years of age, working in Italy.
First Prize - "Artist Residency Program" of three months in New York City. Second and third prizes - purchase prize bonuses for the value of 4,000 and 3,000 Euros, respectively

MEGAWATT: Artists over 35 years of age, working in Italy.
First Prize - "Artist Residency Program" of three months in New York City. Second and third prizes - purchase prize bonuses for the value of 4,000 and 3,000 Euros, respectively

CONNECTIVITY: Open to artists of all nationalities working in New York City
First Prize - "Artist Residency Program" of three months in Rome. Second and third prizes - purchase prize bonuses for the value of $4,000 and $3,000, respectively

New York City artists may participate in the "CONNECTIVITY" category.

Artwork from last year's Terna Prize 01 will be on exhibit at The Chelsea Museum (NYC) June 26-July 11, 2009.

Task
Central aim of the competition is to work with the world of art to develop the new "Europaallee" district and raise it to internationally comparable standards. In the first phase of the venture, a curator with a master plan for further art projects will be appointed. He or she will then supervise – both conceptually and in the implementation – a second phase which will consist of various art competitions based on his/her original curator concept.

LYONS WIER GALLERY LAUNCHES THE ART MARKET | ART BAZAAR SUMMER 2009

 The ART BAZAAR is an OPEN CALL to ALL ARTISTS on Saturdays and Sundays, beginning July 4th thru August 16th, who wish to display and sell their artwork at Lyons Wier Gallery. The gallery doors will open at 8AM for artists to install their work and the ART BAZAAR will open to the public at 10AM.

Artists will be admitted on a "first come, first serve" basis and admittance will cease once the gallery is full. Participating artists will be fully responsible for setting their prices and for hanging and selling their work during this two-day period. Each artist will be allocated an area to exhibit and MUST BE PRESENT during the entire time. There is no price structure, no visual filter for inclusion and no politics for entrance other than a willingness to show up, step-up and sell the work. At the end of the seven weekend period of the ART BAZAAR, the top selling artist will be awarded a solo exhibition at Lyons Wier Gallery in 2010.

The ART MARKET projects, starting July 6th thru August 21st, run Monday thru Friday, whereby seven artists have been invited to mount a five-day project driven by their unique curatorial vision. Each artist been given the gallery to transform as they see fit. Two New SEPTA Calls for Artists

SEPTA Art in Transit Program invites Artists living or working in the Greater Philadelphia area to submit qualifications for two new permanent commissions for the Spring Garden Subway Station and the Girard Subway Station.

Two separate Calls for Artists have been posted on the SEPTA website.  You may apply to one or both competitions; however, only one commission will be awarded to the same Artist.

This summer, Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre plans to screen a series of short video works in a public space in Kingston, Ontario. It will be much like last year's Square Pegs: Video Art in the Square, which featured eight artists in a screening in Kingston's Market Square. This is an open call. Please submit your short videos (up to a maximum length of 15 minutes) on NTSC DVD or MiniDV, along with an artist’s statement and CV. Modern Fuel is an equal opportunity video projector.
Applications and proposals will be accepted until July 20th, 2009.

The Italian Cultural Association MoCA (Modern Contemporary Art), in cooperation with Arte Laguna, organizes the Fourth International Art Prize “Arte Laguna”, directed to the promotion and valorization of the contemporary art.
The Prize is organized under the patronage of the Foreign Office,  Region of Veneto, Province of Treviso, Province of Venice, Municipality of Venice, Municipality of Mogliano Veneto, Venetian Ca’ Foscari University, Ascom of Treviso, NIKON, Venetian Academy of Fine Arts, European Institute of Design (IED).
The Prize is subdivided in three sections: painting, photographic art, sculpture. Participants can chose the theme of their artworks.

The Prize is open to all artists, without any limits of age, sex, nationality or other qualification. Each artist can participate with one or two works, at one or more sections. Technical details:
Painting – total technical and stylistic freedom (oil, tempera, acrylic, ink, vinyl, watercolor, graphite, pencil, collage, etc.) on whichever support (canvas, paper, wood, plastics, iron, etc.).
The max dimensions allowed per each works are 150x150 cm, picture frame included.
Sculpture – whichever organic or inorganic material. Works can make use of sounds, lights, videos, mechanical or electrical movements. The max dimensions allowed per each works are: base 2mtr, depth 2mtr, height 2mtr, weight 70 kg.
Photographic Art - color and b/w analogical photos, color and b/w digital photos,  color and b/w digital elaborations,  works entirely realized on computer. Videos are not admitted. The max dimensions allowed per each works are 150x150 cm.

The selection of the artworks will be carried out by 3 Juries composed by experts of Contemporary Art:
