We are the environmental film festival in Rio de Janeiro at one of the oldest institutions in Brazil: The Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden, one of the 10 most important worldwide, is part of the Ministry of the Environment. This institution was the impetus behind scientific expeditions bringing back new plants and promoting knowledge about Brazil's Megadiversity. The special situation of Rio de Janeiro as a major city with environmental problems alongside remnants of the highly endangered Atlantic Forest serves as a perfect springboard for discussing and promoting the environmental films.
Registration for participation in the Festival is open until September 29th, 2008. Visit www.cinegaia.org to access the registration form. The deadline for electronic pre-submission via email is September 22, 2008, and discs for viewing purposes and accompanying material must arrive at the Festival address no later than September 29th, 2008.
