An annual program for artists from different disciplines,scientists and activists, aimed at fostering socially and ecologically-conscious cultural development in the region.
FEBRUARY 1-28, 2009 TOPIC: PUBLIC SPACE
What is public space? How does it differ from private space? What are the social and ecological implications of creating art in the public realm? These and other questions will be explored through collaboration, experimentation, and the creation of site-specific works around the hacienda grounds and in nearby towns.
Disciplines:
Performing Arts (Music, Dance, Performance, Theater, Puppetry, etc); Visual Arts (Painting, Drawing, Mixed-Media, Photography, Film/Video, etc); Sculpture; Design and Architecture; Humanities and Social Thought (Anthropology, Sociology, Philosophy, etc); Natural Sciences (Ecology, Hydrology, Biology, Geology, etc).
Invited artists: Shawn Landis, (Seattle, USA) and Julia Mandle (New York, USA)
Up to eight additional participants will be selected by application.
